Kaylene Peoples has always loved to sing. She has a 5-octave range, and depending on the music, she can go from contralto to lyric soprano, but what she prefers is to sit in the alto/second soprano range—this lends the most emotional response from her audiences, creating a more intimate setting. "It's not about performing more than it is about relating and sharing a musical experience. I love it when the audience responds to my music. That's what I really care about the most," states Kaylene. Interesting fact: Kaylene was mostly interested in composing, arranging, and conducting music. Her focus was in scorewriting. One day she was singing to herself and someone told her she should sing, but she really wasn't all that interested. However, after constantly hearing random people tell her the same thing, as a favor to a friend, she did a vocal performance at a show. The audience response was overwhelming. From then on, the singing gigs just kept calling and she naturally fell into that role. "I'm working on a new vocal album that will be all original material. I'm currently in the process of woodshedding lyrics, arrangements, and I'm stepping outside of my comfort zone. When I think about a great song, that song should be able to stand on its own with just great lyrics and piano or guitar, as well as captivating the listener with a professionally produced big production. I'm looking forward to hearing the outcome." —Kaylene Peoples
